"Anyway... that jar is almost certainly fake. I know that glaze. Ironically, I just used it last night on a Hull Style gingerbread jar on a custom order. I'll send you a picture later so you can see what I mean. It is the identical color, a metallic bronzy gold. The glaze is currently made by Amaco; Called "luster gold" and costs about $3.00 a bottle.
This is in part a note from a person experienced in making and decorating pottery in reference to the all gold puss n Boots that recently sold on Ebay -
I know if you're not in the ceramics field it isn't as obvious how these fakes are made. I'm 99% positive the glaze I just used on the gingerbread man is the same as the one on your fake Puss in Boots.

My bet is this guy took a genuine (relatively) inexpensive Shawnee Puss in Boots, covered it in Amaco Gold Luster glaze and refired it. This glaze has to be applied four coats thick and is VERY opaque. It would completely obliterate the original paint scheme."

It's sounds to me like it wouldn't be real hard to vary the coats to make it look like wear. I need to get a job with CSI - huh.
